Toby Carvery - FREE meal on Armed Forces Day.

Toby Carvery Salutes the Armed Forces with free meal on Armed Forces Day

Toby Carvery is showing its support to the armed forces by offering all military personnel a free carvery on Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24th June.
Toby Carvery, which operates 168 sites across the UK is inviting local armed forces personnel to enjoy a free breakfast or carvery on Saturday 24th June, as a way of saying thank you for all their hard work.

For military personnel who can’t attend, local Toby Carvery’s will be hosting a Veterans Breakfast Club all week from Monday 19th June, where former and current members of the Armed Forces can book to enjoy breakfast for £1.

Armed Forces Day helps the country to show its support to the men and women who represent the UK in the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force.

Toby Carvery’s offer is open to all military personnel, from serving troops and reserves to veterans and cadets, and can be claimed by downloading a voucher and presenting this along with their military ID or veteran’s card.

Martin Gosling, Brand Operations Director for Toby Carvery comments, said: “Armed Forces Day is a brilliant opportunity to show our thanks for the work both serving and ex-military have done for our country.

“We are proud to support our troops and can’t think of a better way to thank all those involved than by giving them a roast dinner on us.”

Toby Carvery has also announced its charity partnership with The Royal British Legion, which will see it support the charity with fundraising initiatives over the next two years, and has added a special charity pudding to its menus with 25p from each pudding sale being donated to The Legion. It is aiming to raise £100,000 for The Royal British Legion by the end of 2018.
To download your Armed Forces Day voucher, to book a table or to find out more about the offer, visit the Toby Carvery website.

Broadband Cancellation Fees for Armed Forces Personnel

Broadband providers drop cancellation fees for armed forces personnel.

Mark Lancaster, Minister for Defence Veterans, Reserves and Personnel has announced that armed forces personnel will no longer have to face cancellation fees for their broadband and media packages when posted overseas or to another part of the UK not covered by their current provider. The commitment from the UK’s biggest broadband providers representing 95 per cent of Britain’s broadband market comes into force immediately, and will benefit tens of thousands of forces households in the UK and abroad. The change agreed to under the tenets of the Armed Forces Covenant includes BT, EE, Plusnet, Talk Talk and Virgin Media, who have all committed to treating military personnel fairly when cancelling their contracts. Up until now, members of the armed forces deployed overseas or to different part of the UK not covered by their provider could be forced to pay a cancellation fee. They will no longer have to face this cost and be disadvantaged due to the mobile nature of service life The Minister for Defence Veterans, Reserves and Personnel said: “Our armed forces are sent all over the world and across the country to help keep our country safe and they should never be disadvantaged because of this. The removal of cancellation fees by leading broadband providers is yet another example of the Covenant in action, which is making sure our brave personnel are treated fairly. It’s a welcome move and we’re looking forward to seeing what more British businesses can do to support our military.” The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or have previously served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly and not disadvantaged by their service. Delivery partners include businesses and trade bodies, charities and community organisations, local authorities and government departments.

A Message from the Ground staff for Dog Owners

It has been brought to our attention that some dog owners are using the general waste bins located around both play areas to dispose of dog waste. All the rubbish from these bins is classed as contaminated and is having to be placed in a different bin which is creating extra costs. This money could be spent elsewhere for the good and benefit of the soldiers.

Please take the waste home or use the appropriate dog waste bins which are located at

 Wade Ave ( near roundabout)
Top of Wade Ave ( Near garages)
 Hadrian Crescent (opposite Officers Mess)
Gate 7 of the Air field.

A message from our Community Development Worker

Dear all,

As most of you are aware, our Minis and Juniors Youth Clubs are taking
a little break as our members have other commitments
through school and extra-curricular activities.
As a reminder:

Minis (our session for 5-7 year-old) will restart in September
with the new school year.

Juniors (our session for ages 8-12) will take a break through
June and part of July. We will then run a Juniors ‘Playing Out’
session on Tuesdays 11th and 18th July, meeting at the
Community Centre and running at the usual
session time, 5.30-7.00.

Please be aware that there will be no regular community
provision for the week Monday 19th-Friday 23rd June
due to Annual Leave. This means there will be no Soft Play Afternoons
 or Happy Hour this week.

Sessions will run as normal for the week
Monday 26th-Friday 30th June.

There will be no community provision for the week
Monday 3rd-Friday 7th July as I am renewing my
First Aid training (so no Soft Play Afternoons or Happy Hour).

We will be back to normal from Tuesday 11th July, and
I very much look forward to seeing you all then.

Kind regards,

Lisa Robinson
Community Development Worker
